Klarna Partners with Privy to Integrate Crypto Wallet Features into Its Ecosystem
Klarna has partnered with Privy to develop crypto wallet features embedded within Klarna's financial products. This initiative aims to allow users to store, use, and send digital assets directly within Klarna's ecosystem rather than through a standalone app.
The project builds on KlarnaUSD, a dollar-backed stablecoin launched in collaboration with Stripe’s Bridge platform. Privy, a wallet infrastructure provider supported by Stripe, will co-design and test these wallet features.
Eventually, Klarna users may be able to hold stablecoins or other cryptocurrencies, send money to friends, and invest or transact globally all within Klarna’s ecosystem. Klarna’s CEO, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, emphasized that the goal is to integrate crypto into everyday financial life for ordinary people.
Any new products developed under this partnership must pass regulatory reviews before launch. Privy currently powers tools for over 100 million accounts, including platforms such as OpenSea.
This collaboration signals Klarna's deeper push into the crypto space by embedding digital currencies into its financial products, expanding beyond traditional payment services.
