Lake Mary High School Wins First Ever Florida Class 7A State Football Championship
Lake Mary High School secured its first state title in program history by winning the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 7A state championship on December 13, 2025. The victory came in a dramatic 28-27 game against Vero Beach at Pitbull Stadium in Miami.
Trailing by six points with just seven seconds left, Lake Mary executed a miraculous play. Noah Grubbs' pass was tipped, allowing Tavarius Brundidge Jr. to strip the ball from Vero Beach's Barrett Schultz and run it in for a tying touchdown. Lake Mary then converted the extra point to gain a one-point lead and ultimately win the game.
In the closing moments, Vero Beach attempted to run out the clock but chose to take a safety with 12 seconds remaining, which gave Lake Mary another possession. Head coach Scott Perry highlighted the team's resilience, noting they fought until the final whistle and competed fiercely amid a chaotic finish.
