Led By Donkeys Project Trump and Epstein Onto Windsor Castle During 2025 State Visit
Led By Donkeys projected images of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein onto Windsor Castle during Trump's state visit, specifically timed for the banquet on 17 September 2025. The activists released a nine-minute film outlining Trump's relationship with Epstein, claiming Trump was a longtime close associate of Epstein. The film was viewed about 20 million times.
The projection used a 32,000-lumen projector and a hidden Bluetooth speaker concealed inside a Kellogg's Fruit ’n Fibre box. The group had booked rooms at the Harte and Garter hotel to secure a clear castle view. The projection required careful mapping onto Windsor Castle’s cylindrical surface, including the royal crest. Police arrived within approximately three minutes of the projection beginning.
Four protesters, including Led By Donkeys co-founders Oliver Knowles and Ben Stewart along with three others, were arrested at Maidenhead police station on charges of malicious communication and later for public nuisance. During questioning, officers referenced the Town and Country Planning Act, but the suspects gave no comment. A photo showed the projector strapped to four drawers.
All charges were dropped about a month later. The activists described the arrests as Orwellian, noting that this action followed previous Led By Donkeys stunts such as a 2018 Greenpeace paraglider over Turnberry during a Trump visit.
