Led By Donkeys Projects Film on Trump and Epstein onto Windsor Castle during 2025 State Visit
On 17 September 2025, the activist group Led By Donkeys projected a nine-minute film about Donald Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein onto Windsor Castle during Trump’s state visit. The projection used a 32,000-lumen projector set up from the Harte and Garter hotel, with audio broadcast through a Bluetooth speaker concealed inside a Kellogg’s Fruit ’n Fibre box. This stunt attracted significant attention online, with the projection reportedly viewed around 20 million times. Police arrived at the hotel lobby within approximately three minutes of the projection beginning and arrested four activists, including Oliver Knowles, on charges of malicious communication under a stalking law. Later that night, the activists were re-arrested on public nuisance charges and questioned by the child protection squad, though the interrogations yielded only “no comment” responses. Just over a month after the event, all charges against the activists were dropped. This action followed previous protests by Led By Donkeys, including Greenpeace’s 2018 demonstration involving a paraglider over Turnberry during Trump’s visit to Scotland. Led By Donkeys described the arrests as Orwellian and stated that the stunt successfully generated a global conversation and created a social object for scrutiny of Trump’s associations.
