Libya's Army Chief of Staff Dies in Plane Crash in Turkey
Libya's army chief of staff, Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, died in a plane crash in Turkey, along with four others on board. The private jet, carrying Haddad and other military officials, departed from Ankara Esenboga airport en route to Tripoli but lost radio contact shortly after takeoff.
The Libyan prime minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, confirmed Haddad's death following the disappearance of the aircraft above Ankara. Turkish authorities located the wreckage about two kilometers south of Kesikkavak village in the Haymana district, approximately 74 kilometers from Ankara.
Debris pieces believed to be from the aircraft were found during the search and rescue operation. Ali Yerlikaya, Turkey's interior minister, announced the location of the wreckage on social media platform X.
