Lindsey Vonn Finishes Third in World Cup Super-G at Val-d’Isère
Lindsey Vonn, 41, secured third place in the World Cup super-G race at Val-d’Isère, marking her 142nd World Cup podium and her second consecutive day on the podium following Saturday’s downhill event. The race, delayed by 10 minutes due to gusts, was won by Sofia Goggia who finished 0.15 seconds ahead of Alice Robinson in second place. Vonn was 0.36 seconds behind Goggia, reaching a top speed of 115 kph during her run. This result remains unofficial pending the start of lower-ranked racers.
This podium finish is part of Vonn’s comeback, which she resumed exactly one year ago after a five-season retirement to target the Milan-Cortina Olympics starting 6 February 2026. So far this season, Vonn has achieved one win, four podiums, and a fourth place in five races over a period of 10 days. Notably, her St Moritz downhill win last weekend was her 83rd World Cup victory.
Sofia Goggia secured her 27th World Cup win and eighth in super-G with this victory, while Alice Robinson had previously won the St Moritz super-G, where Vonn finished fourth. Vonn plans to take a three-week break, with her next race scheduled as a downhill on 10 January at Altenmarkt, Austria.
