Liz Truss Launches New Show, Accuses Bank of England of Sabotage Amid Market Turmoil
Liz Truss, the former UK prime minister who served just 49 days in 2022, has accused the Bank of England of sabotaging her mini-budget by selling gilts the day before its rollout and failing to regulate the pension market, actions she says triggered the 2022 market crisis. The Bank of England, in response, has attributed the crash to her mini-budget and noted its own intervention to stabilize markets but declined further comment to Fox News Digital.
Amid these allegations, Truss has announced the launch of a new YouTube show called The Liz Truss Show, and a private club named Leconfield. Early guests on her show include controversial figures such as Steve Bannon and Matt Goodwin. She advocates for a "Trump-style revolution" in Britain and Europe, emphasizing free speech and a fight against forces she believes threaten Western civilization.
Truss also voiced frustration with the BBC, aligning herself with former President Donald Trump’s stance, referencing his plan to sue the BBC over edits to his January 6 remarks. On foreign policy, she discussed Ukraine aid and defense spending, urging Europe to increase contributions. The Council on Foreign Relations notes that while the US has led aid to Ukraine, Europe has collectively contributed more.
Additionally, the Trump administration has reportedly deployed two fighter jets over the Gulf of Venezuela in operations targeting narcoterrorism. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly commented that all options remain on the table in these efforts.
