London City Lionesses Sack Manager Jocelyn Prêcheur Amid Mid-table WSL Season
London City Lionesses have dismissed manager Jocelyn Prêcheur as the team sits sixth in the Women's Super League (WSL) table at the halfway point of the season. Prêcheur, who took charge in summer 2024, led the club to promotion from the Championship last season by winning 13 of 20 matches, clinching the title on the final day by a two-point margin.
The sacking comes after the club suffered their sixth defeat of the season, an away loss at Leicester City. This managerial change follows a similar recent dismissal in the WSL, with West Ham’s Rehanne Skinner also leaving her role within four days.
Owner Michele Kang, who also owns Washington Spirit and OL Lyonnes, stated the club aims to ascend to the top tier. The club's official statement described Prêcheur's exit as the start of a new cycle and a shift toward a different strategic direction, while thanking him and his coaching staff for their efforts.
As a newly promoted side in the WSL, London City Lionesses currently stand sixth, reflecting a mid-table position during their first season back in the top flight.
