Luke Littler Joins Pantheon of Greats at Sports Biggest Pantomime
Teenager Luke Littler won the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace by defeating Gian van Veen 7-1 in the final. Littler secured a £1m first prize and became the fourth player to retain a PDC world title, following Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis, and Gary Anderson; Eric Bristow was the first to achieve the feat.
Gian van Veen struggled with dartitis throughout the match, and Littler pressed the advantage to clinch the win. The British champion sealed the final with a 147 checkout after a 170 checkout helped him win the third set.
Littler’s victory marked a seventh consecutive year of home-nation champions at the event, which continues to draw a growing international audience with about 20% of fans from abroad and notable participation from Germany and the Netherlands.
Looking ahead, Littler said he plans to keep winning more titles and pursue further records, indicating a sustained run at the sport's top level.
