Man in UK Charged Alongside Five Others with Sexual Offences Against His Wife
Philip Young, 49, formerly of Swindon and now living in Enfield, has been charged with 56 sexual offences including multiple rapes and drugging to overpower his now-ex-wife, Joanne Young, 48. The alleged offences, which occurred between 2010 and 2023, involve drugging to enable sexual activity, voyeurism, possession of indecent images of children, and possession of extreme images. Joanne Young has waived her right to anonymity.
Alongside Philip Young, five other men have been charged with sexual offences against Joanne Young. They are Norman Macksoni, 47, of Sharnbrook, charged with one rape and possession of extreme images; Dean Hamilton, 46, of no fixed abode, charged with one rape, sexual assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual touching; Conner Sanderson Doyle, 31, of Swindon, charged with sexual assault by penetration and sexual touching; Richard Wilkins, 61, of Toothill, Swindon, charged with one rape and sexual touching; and Mohammed Hassan, 37, of Swindon, charged with sexual touching.
The six defendants are due to appear at Swindon magistrates court on Tuesday.
Detective Superintendent Geoff Smith described the investigation as significant and complex. Joanne Young has been supported by trained officers throughout the process. CPS specialist prosecutor James Foster stated there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest to prosecute all six defendants.
