Manchester City Held to Draw by Sunderland, Guardiola Focuses on Chelsea Clash
Manchester City drew 0-0 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, ending an eight-match winning run in all competitions and leaving City second in the Premier League, four points behind Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola urged his players to keep their heads up for the upcoming Chelsea game at the Etihad after the Sunderland match. Chelsea are set to visit Manchester City on Sunday following the dismissal of their manager Enzo Maresca.
During the match against Sunderland, City player Savinho was forced off with a second-half injury, which Guardiola noted did not look good. Rodri came on in the second half and helped City break Sunderland's lines as the performance improved after the break.
Sunderland preserved their unbeaten home record with the draw. Their manager Régis Le Bris praised his promoted side for defending well and pressing high throughout the game.
There were reports that Maresca had discussed relocating to Manchester with figures linked to City before his dismissal.
