Manchester United Women set to sign Germany striker Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
Manchester United Women are set to sign 28-year-old German striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich. Schüller, who has six months left on her Bayern contract, has scored more than 100 goals for Bayern Munich and netted 54 goals in 82 appearances for Germany.
Reports from Bild on 23 December stated that the transfer paperwork is finalised, and Schüller’s exit from Bayern is anticipated. She has achieved seven consecutive Bundesliga seasons with double-figure league goals and won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Manchester United Women have gained momentum recently, progressing in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs with an away win over Juventus and defeating Tottenham in the League Cup quarter-finals. During the winter break, United also announced the signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal and extended the contract of Hinata Miyazawa. United’s director of football, Matt Johnson, described Miyazawa’s extension as keeping a critical component in their play.
