Martha Stewart Joins Celebrity Cohort as Minority Co-Owner of Swansea City FC
Martha Stewart has become a minority co-owner of Swansea City Football Club, joining fellow celebrity investors Snoop Dogg and Luka Modric. The announcement was made by Swansea City’s current owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, though the exact size of Stewart's investment was not disclosed.
Swansea City competes in the English Championship, the second tier of English football, and has been American-owned since 2016. Cravatt and Cohen took control of the club last year and are currently looking to purchase the club’s stadium, which is owned by the local council.
Stewart attended Swansea’s recent comeback 2-1 victory against Wrexham, a club backed by celebrity investors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, highlighting the rising influence of US owners within British football. Notably, other American figures such as Tom Brady are also minority owners at Birmingham City, continuing this transatlantic trend.
Despite the high-profile names involved, neither Snoop Dogg nor Luka Modric holds significant control of the club on the UK companies register. Club owners have indicated that the upcoming January transfer window will likely not be busy, emphasizing manager Vítor Matos’s commitment to developing young players at Swansea.
