Masked Robbers Steal £1.5M in Crypto and Luxury Watch in Oxford Heist
On the afternoon of November 4, masked robbers ambushed a car in Oxford, stealing a £450,000 luxury watch and more than £1.1 million in cryptocurrency. The victims, who included two men and three women travelling from Oxford toward London, had their phones seized. One victim was forced to transfer £1.1 million in crypto before the group was abandoned in the Five Mile Drive area as the robbers fled.
Police are seeking dashcam and CCTV footage from around 1pm to 4pm on the day of the robbery involving three vehicles: a black BMW saloon, a blue Hyundai Ioniq, and a silver Mercedes-Benz Vito. These vehicles were sighted around Yarnton Road, Sandy Lane, Five Mile Drive, and nearby streets.
As part of the investigation, four men have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and kidnapping: a 21-year-old and a 37-year-old from London, a 23-year-old from Kent, and a 19-year-old from Birmingham. All four have been released on bail with return dates scheduled from January to February 2026.
The police investigation includes house-to-house inquiries, reviews of CCTV footage, analysis of ANPR data, digital forensics, and tracing of the cryptocurrency involved. Warrants have been executed in London and Birmingham, and arrests were made in Kent.
