Mikaela Shiffrin Extends World Cup Winning Streak with Dominant Slalom Victory
Mikaela Shiffrin extended her World Cup win total to a record 105 with a commanding victory in the slalom race held in the French Alps. She won by 1.55 seconds over Camille Rast, with Emma Aicher finishing 1.71 seconds behind her. This marks Shiffrin's fourth consecutive slalom win to start the season, and five straight including the final race from last season. All her winning margins this season have been at least one second, including 1.66 seconds in Levi, 1.23 in Gurgl, and 1.57 in Copper Mountain.
Shiffrin led after the first run and secured the win despite several rivals struggling or failing to finish. Lena Duerr went off course in the second run, Lara Colturi straddled a gate, while Zrinka Ljutic and Katharina Liensberger exited midway. Wendy Holdener, who had a mishap in the first run, managed to complete the second and finished seventh. This victory was Shiffrin's 68th World Cup slalom win.
