Minnesota Social Services Fraud Scandal Investigated Amid Allegations of Widespread Abuse
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, the No. 3 House Republican, stated in an interview with Fox News Digital that anyone involved in or aware of fraud in Minnesota social services should be held accountable. Federal prosecutors have revealed that Minnesota social services programs could have experienced billions of dollars worth of fraud and abuse since 2018.
Federal charges include allegations of a theft exceeding $240 million from the Federal Child Nutrition Program through Feeding Our Future; its founder, Aimee Bock, has been found guilty, and about 60 people have been charged in connection with the case. The investigation has expanded to encompass multiple state-run programs, with Emmer describing the fraud as rapidly expanding across various programs and jurisdictions.
Emmer further asserted that the highest levels of Minnesota government might be aware of or complicit in the fraud, although he did not name specific individuals. Governor Tim Walz responded by saying the fraud occurred on his watch and expressed commitment to fixing the issue but questioned the reported billions-dollar figure as politically motivated and emphasized the need for proof. Notably, Walz is campaigning for a third term as governor.
