Mohamed Salah Apologised to Liverpool Squad for Interview Outburst, Says Curtis Jones
Mohamed Salah apologised to the Liverpool squad following the fallout from his interview in which he criticised the club and manager Arne Slot. Salah's comments included saying his relationship with Slot had broken down and that he had earned his place in the team after eight seasons.
After the outburst, Salah was left out of Liverpool's Champions League win over Inter. Slot declined to confirm whether he had personally received an apology from Salah before recalling him for the match against Brighton, citing a desire to avoid distraction while Salah is participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Curtis Jones revealed that Salah spoke directly to his teammates about the controversy and apologised. According to Jones, Salah appeared positive and interacted normally with the group. Jones also emphasised that Salah's comments were not intended to destabilise the team and highlighted improved unity and form since Slot benched Salah after home defeats by Nottingham Forest and PSV. Liverpool have since gone unbeaten in five games.
