Morocco began their Africa Cup of Nations 2025 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Comoros in Rabat, where they are hosting the tournament.

The opening goal came in the 55th minute when Brahim Díaz, a forward for Real Madrid, finished from 10 yards after receiving a pass from Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui.

Comoros had a chance to equalize in the first half but their goalkeeper Yannick Pandor saved a penalty taken by Soufiane Rahimi.

Morocco secured the win 16 minutes from time as Ayoub El Kaabi scored with an overhead kick from a cross by Anass Salah-Eddine.

The match marked the official start of AFCON 2025 with Morocco as hosts in Rabat.
