Motorcycles Worth $40M Seized in Mexico Linked to Former Olympian on FBI's Ten Most Wanted List
Dozens of motorcycles valued at approximately $40 million were seized in Mexico during an investigation targeting Ryan Wedding, a Canadian ex-Olympic snowboarder currently on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list.
Wedding, 44, represented Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, finishing 24th in the men's parallel giant slalom. He faces charges filed in 2024 accusing him of running a multinational drug trafficking network responsible for moving about 60 tons of cocaine annually via long-haul trucks between Colombia, Mexico, Southern US states, and Canada.
U.S. authorities suspect that Wedding is living in Mexico under the protection of the Sinaloa Cartel. A reward of up to $15 million is offered for information leading to his arrest.
The recent seizures, coordinated with Mexican authorities, the RCMP, and the Los Angeles Police Department, included motorcycles, artworks, and medals, with the motorcycles alone valued around $40 million.
Wedding is also known by aliases such as El Jefe, Public Enemy, and James Conrad King. He is accused of orchestrating the killing of a federal witness in Colombia to avoid extradition to the U.S. The witness was shot at a Medellín restaurant, with the murder reportedly linked to a photograph posted on The Dirty News.
In addition to Wedding, ten other defendants were arrested based on charges in a federal indictment unsealed in California.
