MP Zarah Sultana Protests Outside HMP Bronzefield Over Critically Ill Hunger Striker
MP Zarah Sultana protested outside HMP Bronzefield demanding an ambulance transfer for hunger striker Qesser Zuhrah, who is on day 46 without food and described as critically ill with an immediate risk of death.
Zuhrah is currently on remand awaiting trial for an alleged break-in at an Israeli defence firm near Bristol, linked to Palestine Action.
Sultana stated she would not leave the prison until an ambulance is allowed inside and noted she had contacted the Justice Secretary and Health Secretary but received no response.
HMP Bronzefield responded that prisoners have full access to healthcare, receive regular medical assessments, and may access external medical facilities if needed, adding that management follows established policies.
Palestine Action was banned under the Terrorism Act in July, with the ban remaining in place pending a High Court decision expected within weeks; a co-founder, Huda Ammori, had an appeal refused.
Protests are ongoing in five prisons involving eight people charged in relation to Palestine Action before the ban; lawyers have warned that the prisoners could die in custody as part of the protest.
