Napoli's Permanent Move for Rasmus Højlund Seen as a Formality
Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna has described the permanent transfer of Rasmus Højlund from Manchester United as a formality. Højlund joined Napoli on loan last summer, with an option to buy and an obligation to buy if Napoli qualify for the Champions League. Napoli currently sit third in Serie A, holding one of the four Champions League qualification spots.
Højlund has made a strong impact at Napoli, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances, including a brace in Napoli's 2-0 win over Cremonese. The permanent transfer fee is believed to be around £38 million.
Højlund had moved to Manchester United from Atalanta in August 2023 for £64 million plus up to £8 million in add-ons. Napoli’s interest and subsequent obligation to buy reflect the player's promising contribution to the team.
