NASCAR Driver Denny Hamlin's Father Dies After House Fire in North Carolina
Dennis Hamlin, 75, the father of NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin, died from injuries sustained in a house fire in Stanley, North Carolina. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The fire was reported around 6 p.m. ET on Sunday and involved responders from both Gaston and Lincoln Counties. The home was completely destroyed, and it took about two hours to extinguish the blaze. Dennis Hamlin was listed as the manager of the real estate company that owned the house.
Mary Lou Hamlin, Denny Hamlin's mother, was hospitalized with burn injuries and subsequently transferred to a specialty hospital in Winston-Salem for further care.
Denny Hamlin is the driver of the #11 Progressive Toyota and co-owner of 23XI Racing, a team headquartered in Huntersville, North Carolina. In response to the tragedy, the NASCAR community offered condolences to Hamlin and his family.
The Lucia-Bend Fire Department issued a statement thanking multiple agencies for their assistance and requested prayers for the family and first responders involved.
