New Luxury Twiliner Sleeper Bus Service Launches Between Amsterdam and Zurich
In November 2025, Twiliner launched a new sleeper bus service operating between Amsterdam and Zurich three times weekly, with a Zurich to Barcelona route starting on 4 December 2025.
The Amsterdam to Zurich journey takes approximately 12 hours and 15 minutes, traveling via Rotterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg, and Basel. Tickets for the Amsterdam to Zurich route start from 150 Swiss francs, with Eurostar options available for London to Amsterdam from £229 Premier or from £39 standard.
The Twiliner buses feature a two-deck layout: the upper deck contains 18 seats, while the downstairs area includes three seats plus a spacious toilet and changing area. The buses run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) renewable diesel, with claimed CO2 emissions under 10% of a comparable flight. Per passenger kilometer, the buses are reported to be as sustainable as a sleeper train.
Boarding is at Amsterdam Sloterdijk outdoor bus station. The service enforces a strict no-children-under-five policy and has guidelines regarding food, drink, and noise. Overnight travel runs roughly from 10pm to 5:30am.
Currently, there are three buses in the fleet—one per launch route and a third for private charters. Twiliner aims to expand to about 25 routes by 2028, possibly adding a UK service.
This trip was arranged in collaboration with Twiliner, Eurostar, and Zurich Tourism.
