New series of The Traitors reveals 22 diverse contestants including writer, detective, and psychologist
The Traitors has unveiled its lineup of 22 contestants for the upcoming new series premiering on New Year's Day on BBC One and iPlayer. The cast features a mix of backgrounds including Harriet Tyce, a 52-year-old bestselling thriller writer and former criminal barrister; Amanda, a 57-year-old retired police detective from Brighton; and Ellie, a 33-year-old psychologist—the show's first mental health professional contestant.
Other participants include Adam, an outspoken builder; James, a poker-playing gardener; Reece, a 27-year-old sweet shop assistant; as well as a cybersecurity expert and a personal trainer among the group.
Set in a Scottish castle, the contestants are split into two groups: traitors and faithfuls. They must navigate missions, nightly murders, and round-table banishments to identify the traitors. The prize fund for the series is £120,000.
Host Claudia Winkleman has hinted at a brutal twist in this new season. The current lineup follows the success of the celebrity edition, which aired from October to November and was won by Alan Carr.
Harriet Tyce believes her background in writing and law will aid her in plotting and detecting clues throughout the game. Amanda plans to conceal her detective experience by presenting herself as a housewife and mother to avert early suspicion. Ellie aims to use her psychological expertise in discussions and intends to build early alliances while keeping her profession hidden.
