Nigel Farage Meets Jordan Bardella to Discuss Immigration and Energy Policies
Nigel Farage recently met with Jordan Bardella, the leader of France's National Rally (NR), in London. During the meeting, Bardella expressed his belief that Farage could become the UK's next prime minister. Bardella, who is currently leading in polls for the first round of the 2027 French presidential election, discussed several key political issues with Farage, including small boat crossings and energy policy, with a particular focus on nuclear energy.
Bardella stated that if the National Rally were in power, they would implement more restrictive immigration policies and revisit existing migration agreements. He also advocated for stronger police cooperation with the UK concerning small boat crossings, emphasizing the goal of returning migrants to their countries of origin.
Marine Le Pen, former leader of the National Rally, was banned from holding public office for five years in March due to embezzlement of EU funds, making her ineligible to stand in the 2027 presidential race. She plans to appeal the decision, with a court ruling expected next year.
Historically, Farage had maintained distance from the National Rally; as UKIP leader, he avoided an alliance with the Front National, and his Brexit Party did not join the European Parliament group allied with the Front National in 2019.
