Nuno Espírito Santo Faces Growing Discontent at West Ham Amid Poor Results
Nuno Espírito Santo is reportedly losing the support of West Ham United's squad due to concerns over his man-management and tactical decisions. The club currently sits 18th in the Premier League, four points behind Nottingham Forest, following a 3-0 defeat to Wolves which has increased fears of relegation.
Since replacing Graham Potter in September, Nuno has won only 2 of 15 games. Players have expressed alienation from his confusing training methods and unclear team selections. Notable issues include misaligned full-back positioning and instances of starting matches without a recognised forward, such as in losses to Leeds and Brentford in October.
Midfielder James Ward-Prowse has not featured in matchday squads since Nuno’s appointment, indicating further squad concerns.
Despite the struggles, the club’s board reportedly continues to back Nuno in the transfer market. Planned signings include Pablo Felipe, a 22-year-old represented by Jorge Mendes who currently has a hamstring injury and was an unused substitute against Wolves, raising concerns about his immediate impact. Other reported incoming players are Taty Castellanos and Adama Traoré.
West Ham’s ownership has recently faced protests from supporters amid the team’s poor performances. Meanwhile, former manager Slaven Bilic has been linked with a potential return should Nuno depart.
