Official Pepe Website Hacked, Infects Visitors with Malware Amid Token Price Decline
Blockaid has identified a front-end malware named 'Inferno Drainer' on the official Pepe website as of December 4, 2025. This malicious code is designed to siphon funds from connected wallets by redirecting users to a fake site and injecting harmful scripts that can automatically download malware onto devices. Importantly, this attack is a front-end compromise and does not stem from vulnerabilities within Pepe's smart contract. Blockaid publicly described the threat, noting that the malicious code matches a known drainer family.
The Pepe token's price has declined significantly, dropping over 75% year-to-date and currently testing support levels around $0.0000040. Analysts suggest that a move above $0.0000055 would be necessary to reverse this downtrend. Factors contributing to a bearish outlook include weak coordination within the lead team and insufficient community engagement.
In a separate development related to meme tokens, the Pepenode ($PEPENODE) presale has raised approximately $2.3 million. This project features a mine-to-earn model with up to 70% of tokens slated for burning, and it offers potential airdrops of other meme coins.
