Outsider Glengouly Wins the Support the Hunt Family Fund December Gold Cup at Cheltenham
Glengouly, ridden by Sean Bowen, won the Support the Hunt Family Fund December Gold Cup at Cheltenham on 13 December 2025 as a 33-1 outsider, leading from the start. Challengers Jagwar, the 11-4 favourite, and Vincenzo, at 7-2, were repelled on the uphill run to the line. Sean Bowen maintained enough energy to fend off late challenges and secure the victory for Glengouly.
Trained by Faye Bramley in her first full season, Glengouly operates from AP McCoy’s yard. Bramley owns the horse together with the Cheeky Pups syndicate, who pledged £10,000 of prize money to the Hunt Family Fund. Notably, Glengouly was a £16,000 castoff from Willie Mullins’ stable.
The Hunt Family Fund was established by BBC racing commentator John Hunt and his daughter Amy after the tragic murder of his wife and two daughters. The fund aims to raise awareness of violence against women and support causes for young women. Cheltenham’s December meeting week included a dinner and auction that had raised nearly £500,000 for the Hunt Family Fund so far.
