Packers Claim All-Pro Cornerback Trevon Diggs Amid Playoff Push
The Green Bay Packers have claimed All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs off waivers to strengthen their secondary heading into the playoffs. The Packers are currently locked in as the NFC No. 7 seed.
Trevon Diggs, 27, is a former Dallas Cowboys standout who signed a five-year, $97 million extension in 2023. However, his time with the Cowboys since the extension has been marred by injuries and underperformance, including an ACL tear in September 2023, knee injuries during the 2024-25 seasons, and a concussion from an accident at home. Despite playing only eight games in 2025 and recording 25 tackles with no interceptions, Diggs spent time on injured reserve.
His career with the Cowboys spans 66 games with 20 interceptions, 63 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, and 240 tackles. Notably, he led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021 and earned Pro Bowl honors in 2022, as well as first-team All-Pro recognition in 2021.
The end of Diggs’ tenure in Dallas featured some turbulence, including a Christmas Day dispute reportedly involving his request to remain in Maryland after a game against the Washington Commanders. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer denied this request.
Financially, the Packers owe Diggs a $472,000 base salary for the season plus an additional $58,823 if he is active for Week 18 against the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. ET. There is no guaranteed money committed beyond this season.
Complicating matters is that Diggs’ family is based in the Minnesota area, and his brother, Stefon Diggs, has recently encountered legal troubles. The Week 18 game against the Vikings adds a familial angle to the upcoming matchup as the Packers prepare for their playoff push.
