Pam Duncan-Glancy to Step Down from Scottish Parliament in 2026
Pam Duncan-Glancy, Scottish Labour MSP for the Glasgow region, has announced she will not seek re-election to Holyrood in 2026 and has withdrawn as the candidate for Glasgow Kelvin and Maryhill.
She had previously resigned from her role as Labour education spokeswoman after admitting to a serious error of judgement regarding her links to Sean Morton.
Sean Morton, a former Labour councillor for Fochabers Lhanbryde, pleaded guilty in 2017 to possessing two indecent images of children and extreme pornography. He was sentenced to unpaid work and ordered to register as a sex offender, claiming the images were sent to him anonymously.
It was reported by the Daily Record that Duncan-Glancy maintained contact with Morton, though Labour stated the matter had been closed at the time.
Labour said the decision for Duncan-Glancy to step down aims to prevent a personal friendship from distracting from party work. The selection process will be reopened to choose a replacement candidate.
Duncan-Glancy was first elected to Holyrood in 2021.
