Pam Duncan-Glancy Withdraws as Labour Candidate for Glasgow Kelving and Maryhill
Pam Duncan-Glancy will not seek re-election to Holyrood next year and has withdrawn as the Labour parliamentary candidate for Glasgow Kelvin and Maryhill. She was elected to Holyrood in 2021 and had been selected to contest this Glasgow seat.
Duncan-Glancy previously stepped down as Labour education spokesperson after admitting an error of judgement regarding her links to Sean Morton. Morton, a former Labour councillor for Fochabers Lhanbryde, pleaded guilty in 2017 to possessing two indecent images of children and extreme pornography; he was sentenced to unpaid work and placed on the sex offenders register. Duncan-Glancy had maintained contact with Morton, a detail Labour said was resolved at the time.
The Labour Party stated that Duncan-Glancy's withdrawal is to avoid a distraction, and the selection process will be reopened to choose a replacement candidate. Despite stepping down, Duncan-Glancy said she remains committed to helping secure a Scottish Labour government next year.
