Patriots' Christian Barmore Faces Misdemeanor Domestic Assault Charge
Christian Barmore, defensive tackle for the New England Patriots, is facing a misdemeanor domestic assault charge stemming from an alleged incident on August 8 in Mansfield, Massachusetts. According to court documents, the alleged victim reported that Barmore grabbed her and threw her to the floor when she tried to leave. A criminal complaint was issued on December 16, and Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned on February 3.
The Patriots stated they were aware of the reports at the time and had informed the NFL promptly. The team emphasized that the matter is part of an ongoing legal process and assured cooperation with the league. Head coach Mike Vrabel noted that Barmore did not practice recently due to illness but indicated no known reasons for his absence from the regular-season finale against the Miami Dolphins.
This season, Barmore has appeared in all 16 games with 15 starts, recording one sack, 26 tackles, and nine quarterback hits. He was drafted by the Patriots in the second round of the 2021 draft. The team finished the season with a 13-3 record, securing the AFC East championship.
Separately, wide receiver Stefon Diggs is also facing a felony strangulation charge in Massachusetts.
