Poundland has announced plans to close a further 14 stores by early February 2026 as part of an ongoing restructuring effort, bringing the total number of closures to more than 100 by early 2026. Nineteen stores were already scheduled to shut down in the coming months, with 57 closures having taken place by the end of September 2025. Additionally, 40 shops had previously been announced as clearing out ahead of their closure.

The chain expects its UK store count to decrease from about 800 to between 650 and 700 after the restructuring is complete. Poundland was sold for £1 to Gordon Brothers in June 2025, and administration was avoided following a restructuring plan approved by the High Court in August 2025.

As part of its recovery efforts, Poundland is simplifying its business model and returning to a £1, £2, £3 pricing structure across all UK stores. Darren MacDonald, Poundland's UK country manager, acknowledged that while the closures are disappointing, the company will say goodbye to the affected stores with added value and continue operating hundreds of shops nationwide.
