Reform UK Claims Largest Membership in UK Political Parties Amid Declining Labour Numbers
Reform UK says it has more than 268,000 paid-up members, claiming to be the largest political party by membership in the UK, surpassing Labour.
Labour's membership reportedly fell below 250,000 according to Reform UK, though Labour has not confirmed these figures and states that membership numbers will be published in its upcoming annual report. Labour also notes there is no legal obligation to release membership figures or have them externally verified.
Reform UK's membership count is based solely on paid-up members, tracked via a live online counter with annual fees of £25 or £10 for under-25s.
Nigel Farage has publicly claimed that Reform UK has overtaken Labour in membership size.
Labour's membership has been declining since April 2020, with its latest publicly available accounts showing 333,235 members at the end of last year, down from a peak of over 530,000 under Jeremy Corbyn. The party reportedly lost about 37,000 members in 2024.
Other parties' memberships include the Green Party, which rose to more than 180,000 members after Zack Polanski became leader in September. The Conservative Party does not routinely publish membership figures but is believed to have roughly 123,000 members currently, with 131,680 eligible to vote in last year's leadership election. The Liberal Democrats have around 60,000 members.
Additionally, Your Party, launched by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana, reports about 55,000 paid-up members.
Standard membership fees for these parties usually cost around £70.50 per year, with reduced rates such as £35.50 or £12 available for specific groups.
