Revolut Expands Polygon-Based Stablecoin Remittances to UK and Non-EU EEA Countries
Revolut has expanded its Polygon-based stablecoin remittance service to the United Kingdom and non-EU countries within the European Economic Area (EEA). This update allows users to send and receive transfers in stablecoins USDC, USDT, and POL directly through the Revolut app.
The integration with Polygon Labs, an Ethereum overlay blockchain, aims to enable near-instant transfers with low gas fees. Initially launched in December 2024, the Polygon integration has processed over $690 million in transactions to date.
This marks the first time USDC and USDT stablecoins are available inside Revolut on the Polygon network, enabling users to utilize Polygon’s capabilities for these digital assets via Revolut. The remittance product's coverage includes non-EU EEA countries, reflecting the European Union's regulatory stance on stablecoins such as USDT.
Revolut, which serves more than 65 million users across 38 countries, joins other major institutions incorporating Polygon technology for money movement, including Stripe, Flutterwave, DeCard by DCS, and Reliance Jio.
Marc Boiron, CEO of Polygon Labs, highlighted the integration as offering real-world utility by enabling faster and more cost-effective blockchain payments embedded within traditional financial services.
