Richard Meddings Considered for Prudential Chair Role
Richard Meddings is among a small number of candidates being considered to become chair of Prudential, succeeding Baroness Shriti Vadera. Meddings previously chaired TSB and served as CFO at Standard Chartered. He was chairman of NHS England for three years starting in 2022 and held a seven-year tenure as a Treasury non-executive director. The search by Prudential's board is at an advanced stage, although it is unclear how many candidates remain in discussions.
Prudential is a FTSE 100, Asia-led financial services group that no longer has significant UK operations following the 2019 demerger of M&G Investments. Its current market capitalisation is just over £28 billion. The company is pursuing a joint venture listing in India, a move that has coincided with a rise in its share price. A spokesman for Prudential declined to comment on the matter, and Meddings did not respond to a request for comment.
