Russell Brand Faces Additional Sexual Offence Charges
Russell Brand, aged 50, has been charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault involving two further alleged victims, bringing the total number of alleged victims to six.
Brand had previously pleaded not guilty in May to the original five charges, which include two counts of rape, one indecent assault, and two sexual assaults.
He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on 20 January to answer these additional charges. The trial for the original five charges is planned to begin on 16 June next year at Southwark Crown Court.
The Metropolitan Police investigation is led by Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi, and detectives have urged anyone affected or with relevant information to contact them via [email protected]; a dedicated team remains available.
The allegations pertain to offenses occurring between 1999 and 2005, based on testimonies reportedly made by multiple women.
Previous media reports from Channel 4 Dispatches and the Sunday Times have suggested a pattern of predatory behaviour by Brand.
Brand has publicly denied being a rapist and has stated that he looks forward to defending the charges in court.
