San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks Advance to NBA Cup Final
The San Antonio Spurs edged the Oklahoma City Thunder 111-109 in the NBA Cup semifinal to secure a spot in the final against the New York Knicks.
Victor Wembanyama made a notable return from a 12-game absence, contributing 22 points and nine rebounds for San Antonio. Despite a minutes restriction, he achieved a plus-21 rating in just 21 minutes. Devin Vassell added 23 points, while De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle each scored 22 for the Spurs.
The Thunder were led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 29 points, with Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams each adding 17. The Thunder entered the game with an impressive 24-2 record and a 16-game winning streak but suffered their second consecutive loss in Las Vegas. They had previously lost last year’s final to Milwaukee 97-81.
On the other side, the New York Knicks advanced to the NBA Cup final by defeating the Orlando Magic 132-120. Jalen Brunson scored a season-high 40 points, including 25 in the first half, helping New York achieve a shooting percentage of 60.7%.
The Spurs will face the Knicks in the NBA Cup final scheduled for Tuesday night.
