Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) is aiming to reduce costs associated with the stadiums planned for the 2034 World Cup, requesting architecture firms to resubmit designs after initial plans were deemed too expensive. Some contractors have also been informed that construction will not begin on time, causing delays.

The original bid included building 11 new stadiums and renovating 4 existing ones, totaling 15 venues. However, there is speculation that the number of venues may be reduced.

One key site, Neom Stadium, is planned as part of The Line megacity and is included in a proposed framework involving four cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, and Abha.

Several prominent architecture firms such as Foster + Partners, Arup, and Populous are involved in the projects. While construction has begun on three venues, others have encountered delays.

The PIF, which is the majority owner of Newcastle United and four Saudi Pro League clubs, announced a spending cut of at least 20% in 2025 due to declining oil prices. This reduction is expected to impact some World Cup-related projects.

The tournament is scheduled for November–December 2034 and remains part of the broader Vision 2030 initiative financed by the PIF.
