Schumer Accuses DOJ and Pam Bondi of Hiding Epstein Documents Amid Release Deadline
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has accused the Department of Justice and Pam Bondi of hiding documents related to Jeffrey Epstein as a deadline for their public release approaches.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the DOJ plans to release hundreds of thousands of Epstein-related documents in multiple tranches rather than all at once.
A law passed last month and signed by President Trump mandates the DOJ to release all Epstein-related materials, with specific exceptions. These exceptions include protecting victims' identities or medical files, safeguarding child sex abuse materials, withholding information that could jeopardize active investigations, excluding graphic images of death or injury, and withholding classified material.
The documents set for release cover a range of topics including Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, related associates and entities, internal DOJ decision-making processes, records concerning any destruction or tampering of documents, and information regarding Epstein's detention and death.
Schumer warned that failure to release the documents by the approaching Friday deadline could result in legal and political consequences for both President Trump and the Department of Justice.
