SEC Ends Investigation into Ondo Finance, ONDO Token Gains
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has closed its confidential investigation into Ondo Finance, which began in 2024, without bringing any charges. The probe had focused on whether Ondo's platform for tokenizing real-world assets complied with federal securities laws and if its ONDO token should be classified as a security.
Following the announcement, Ondo's ONDO token rose approximately 6% over the last 24 hours and was trading around $0.4838. Ondo stated that the closure of the investigation removes an overhang on the company and clears the way for further advancement of securities tokenization.
This development comes amid eased regulatory pressure on digital assets under the current administration. SEC Chair Paul Atkins has publicly endorsed tokenization as a significant innovation, telling Fox Business that it could transform capital markets and change the financial system in the coming years. The report highlights ongoing momentum in the sector for tokenizing real-world assets.
