Sherrone Moore Fired as Michigan Head Coach, Arrested After Inappropriate Relationship Allegations
Sherrone Moore was fired as the Michigan Wolverines head football coach after the university stated he had an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. Hours following his termination, Moore was arrested for allegedly breaking into the staffer's home and threatening to kill himself. Prosecutors report that Moore also threatened the staffer and posed a risk to public safety. Further, Moore contacted the staffer through phone calls and texts after the breakup, and the staffer cooperated with the University of Michigan's investigation.
Moore faces more than six years in prison if convicted, with his next court date scheduled for January 22. His arraignment took place on December 12, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After his arrest, Moore's wife reportedly called 911, expressing concern that he was suicidal following the loss of his job. As a condition for bond, Moore must continue mental health treatment after undergoing two evaluations post-arrest.
