Six Palestinians Killed by Israeli Troops at Gaza City School Amid Fragile Ceasefire
Six Palestinians, including a baby, were killed by Israeli troops at a Gaza City school that was sheltering displaced people, according to hospital officials.
The Palestinian death toll has risen to 401 since the October ceasefire began. Bodies were recovered after coordination with the UN to avoid further Israeli fire.
The attack involved Israeli forces firing over the ceasefire line into Gaza, from which Israeli troops had withdrawn to a so-called yellow line. Despite this withdrawal, Israeli troops continue to control about 53% of Gaza.
This incident highlights the fragility of the ceasefire, now in its third month. The ceasefire plan consists of two phases: Phase 1 aims to end hostilities, withdraw forces to the yellow line, and increase humanitarian aid. Phase 2 is intended to establish permanent peace by disarming Hamas, setting up a civilian authority and a stabilization force, and achieving full Israeli Security Forces withdrawal.
