Small Business Administration Launches Deregulation Strike Force to Roll Back Federal Regulations
The Small Business Administration (SBA) has launched the Deregulation Strike Force, led by the Office of Advocacy, to conduct a government-wide review aimed at identifying and rolling back federal regulations that hinder economic growth and increase costs for small businesses and consumers.
The initiative, overseen by SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, aligns with President Trump's push to reduce regulatory costs. It specifically targets sectors such as housing and construction, healthcare, agriculture and food production, energy and utilities, transportation, and other supply-chain goods and services.
The SBA cites regulations implemented during the Biden administration as major drivers of increased costs, estimating about $6 trillion in cumulative compliance costs for American families and small businesses. Since President Trump's return to office, the SBA reports having eliminated approximately $98.9 billion in federal regulations and notes nearly $200 billion in total regulatory savings resulting from various actions, including changes to reporting rules, energy-efficiency standards, and diesel exhaust fluid requirements.
This deregulation effort is positioned as a response to inflation and cost pressures, reinforcing President Trump's economic message.
