On December 29, 2025, SoftBank Group announced its agreement to acquire DigitalBridge Group for $4 billion. DigitalBridge is a major investor in digital infrastructure assets including datacenters, cell towers, fiber networks, and edge computing facilities, with holdings in companies such as Vantage Data Centers, Zayo, Switch, and AtlasEdge.

As of September 30, DigitalBridge managed approximately $108 billion in assets, positioning it as one of the largest digital infrastructure investors. Following the acquisition, Marc Ganzi will continue to lead DigitalBridge as a separately managed platform.

This transaction broadens SoftBank's AI-focused portfolio and its exposure to compute-scale infrastructure in the context of rising demand for artificial intelligence capabilities. SoftBank is currently investing in the Stargate project alongside OpenAI, Oracle, and MGX to develop large-scale AI computing capacity. The project plans to build sites in Texas, New Mexico, and Ohio with a combined capacity of about 7 gigawatts.

The acquisition aligns with SoftBank's strategy to position itself centrally in the evolving AI technology landscape.
