Solana's Drift Launches V3 with 10x Faster Trades
Drift v3 on Solana represents a major upgrade aimed at making on-chain trading feel as seamless and fast as trading on a centralized exchange. This latest version delivers a rebuilt backend that enables trade execution to be 10 times faster, with about 85% of market orders expected to fill in under 0.5 seconds.
The upgrade also improves liquidity, significantly reducing slippage on large trades to roughly 0.02%. New features include take-profit and stop-loss orders that update within a single Solana slot. The cadence for oracle price refreshes remains synchronized with trades, and users benefit from gas fees being abstracted away.
Additionally, the user interface has been overhauled to feature a cleaner portfolio page, clearer account displays, and a more straightforward area for borrowing and lending. Future planned features for Drift include auto-signing, easier deposit processes, isolated margin trading, and a mobile application. The team is also testing the Drift Liquidity Provider Pool, which allows users to provide liquidity while earning yield.
Cindy Leow, a representative of Drift, highlighted the upgrade's ability to deliver centralized exchange (CEX)-level performance on Solana, aiming to set a higher standard for decentralized finance (DeFi) derivatives platforms.
