Stabbing Spree and Chemical Attack at Yokohama Rubber Factory in Japan Injures 15
On December 26, 2025, a stabbing spree and chemical attack occurred at the Yokohama Rubber Co. tire factory in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture, located west of Tokyo. Fifteen people were injured in the incident, with eight individuals stabbed and seven others sprayed with what was believed to be bleach.
A 38-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Investigators indicated that the attacker may have been a former employee of the factory. The suspect reportedly carried a survival knife and wore what appeared to be a gas mask during the attack.
Among the victims, five who were stabbed were in serious condition, while seven suffered bleach-related injuries and were hospitalized. All victims were conscious when transported to medical facilities.
First responders arrived promptly at the scene, and police secured the area around the Yokohama Rubber Co. facility. Shizuoka Prefecture police are handling the case, with incident details provided by the Fujisan Nanto Fire Department. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
