Standard Chartered Lowers Bitcoin Price Forecast Through 2030
Standard Chartered's analyst Geoff Kendrick has significantly reduced his Bitcoin price targets for the coming years. The year-end 2025 forecast has been lowered to $100,000 from an earlier target of $200,000. Subsequent yearly targets have also been cut, with 2026 now expected at $150,000 (down from $300,000), 2027 at $225,000 (previously $400,000), and 2028 at $300,000 (down from $500,000). The optimistic bull case of Bitcoin reaching $500,000 has been postponed to 2030 from an earlier prediction of 2028.
This adjustment is primarily driven by a collapse in the share values of bitcoin-focused digital asset treasury firms (DATs), which has limited their capacity to raise capital to purchase Bitcoin. As a result, DATs are unlikely to provide further market support and are expected to consolidate holdings rather than engage in outright selling. According to Kendrick, ETF buying remains the only identified factor that could drive a new Bitcoin rally.
Bitcoin was trading around $90,495 at the time of the report, reflecting a roughly 36% decline from its peak on October 6. This price movement is considered within expected bounds by the analyst.
