Tatiana Schlossberg, Climate Journalist and JFK Granddaughter, Dies at 35
Tatiana Schlossberg, 35, granddaughter of former US President John F Kennedy and daughter of Caroline Kennedy, has died in December 2025. Her death was announced by her family in a social media post shared by the John F Kennedy Library Foundation. Schlossberg had been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in November 2025 and was told she had less than a year to live. Earlier, in May 2024, after giving birth to her second child, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, but her prognosis was poor.
Schlossberg was a climate journalist and the author of Inconspicuous Consumption: The Environmental Impact You Don’t Know You Have. She wrote for the New York Times and other outlets. In December 2021, she reported on local experiments to harness energy from the London Underground to heat homes as part of climate-change efforts. She described climate change as a major global story in interviews and emphasized the importance of communicating the issue through journalism.
She publicly disclosed her illness in a New Yorker essay, discussing its impact on her family and children. Schlossberg’s family history includes the assassination of JFK in 1963 and the death of JFK Jr. in 1999. Her brother, Jack Schlossberg, is currently running for Congress in New York.
