Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate ceasefire, effective at noon local time on Saturday, bringing an end to 20 days of fighting along their border. The ceasefire agreement prohibits all forms of attacks and troop movements, with both sides maintaining their current troop deployments without further movement.

The ceasefire was signed by Thai Defence Minister Natthaphon Narkphanit and Cambodian Defence Minister Tea Seiha. It also includes calls for cooperation on demining efforts and combating cybercrime.

The recent clashes stem from long-standing border disputes and have resulted in more than 100 deaths and the displacement of over 500,000 people on both sides. Thailand reported 26 soldiers and one civilian killed since December 7, along with 44 civilian deaths from collateral effects. Cambodia reported 30 civilian deaths and 90 injuries but has not released official military casualty figures.

Cambodia accused Thailand of conducting airstrikes, including Thai F-16s bombing targets in Serei Saophoan in Banteay Meanchey and a strike on Chok Chey village; Thailand confirmed an attack on Friday.

Hundreds of thousands have been evacuated from border areas affected by the conflict. The ceasefire push was mediated by Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, with external pressure from the United States under President Donald Trump.
